This is research for my final semester of Division III. This serves as visual archive of all I deem inspiring for my final exhibition. An exploration of narrative within dress, my thesis questions what it means to be American in the five years following the Great War. In this project, I focus specifically on the lives of five female garment workers living in the tenements of the Lower East Side in New York City. Though not all content is chronologically exact, Soft Goods & Old Things hosts a space for my research of color palette, silhouette, narrative, and environment, the components which will inform my final interactive historical exhibit at Hampshire College. Feel free to roam around and sit awhile; I encourage any and all feedback, suggestions, and submissions. Welcome to my home for the next four months, I'm so happy you're here.
